This tour acquaints with the history and traditions of the military and political organization
of 15th-to-18th-century Ukrainian warriors that became known as Cossacks. The Cossack
culture and military gradually transformed into a major force in the Ukrainian national
liberation struggle. The military and organizational center of the Ukrainian Cossacks was
Zaporizhian Sich, located on the island of Khortytsia, where Cossack customs and traditions
had been developed. Zaporizhian Sich remained the basis for Ukrainian statehood over
the span of three centuries. Its government was headed by a leader called .Otaman. or
.Hetman., whose symbol of supreme power was a mace. Cossack Mamay is a composite
image of an ideal Cossack, the legendary knight-protector of the Ukrainian nation, always
ready to assist those in danger, to punish offenders, and to contend for truth.

Day 1
Arrival. Welcoming dinner with a folk music show.

Day 2
Sightseeing tour with a visit to St. Sophia Cathedral, one of the most renowned fresco and mosaic art monuments included into the UNESCO World Heritage List. An overview of the Golden Gates, the main entrance to the medieval city of Kyiv; St. Michael’s Golden-Domed
Monastery; monuments to Princess Olha and Prince Volodymyr, the Baptizer of Kyivan Rus; the remains of Desiatynna Church (the Church of the Tithes), the first stone church in Rus; St Andrew’s Church, a masterpiece of Italian architect Rastrelli’s workmanship. A stroll along the Andriyivskyi Descent, one of the oldest streets in Eastern Europe, also called .The Montmartre of Kyiv.. A visit to Mamayeva Sloboda Cossack Village (open-air museum) to acquaint oneself with everyday habits, traditions and lifestyle of Cossacks, watch the Cossack Horse Riding Show, take part in master classes in horse riding, taste traditional Cossack food and beverages – and pass the Cossack dedication ceremony.

Day 3
Cossack Kyiv. tour, including visits to the Museum of Hetmanate, located in the house where Hetman Mazepa once lived. The museum displays authentic artifacts related to the history and traditions of the Cossack and Hetman movement. A tour of the building of Kyiv Mohyla Academy, the oldest institution of higher education in Eastern Europe, granted that status during Mazepa’s reign as hetman. The tour continues to the memorial Column to Magdeburg Rights of city autonomy, acquired by Kyiv during Cossack period; a monument to Hetman Sahaydachnyi; other architectural monuments in Ukrainian Baroque style, which was developed in the times of Mazepa. A boat trip on the Dniprо river.
